Sarah Palin: She’s in Fashion

Whatever your opinions are of Sarah Palin, there’s no denying the fact that she has been grabbing the lion’s share of the headlines during the 2008 Presidential Election campaignRepublican US presidential candidate John McCain’s chosen running mate seems to have gained more attention than the man himself.

While Barack Obama appears to be easing ahead in the polls, its almost as if Sarah Palin is the new Britney Spears or Paris Hilton of Internet search terms.  “Sarah Palin” is No. 1 on the list of mostly widely used political search terms, with about 1 in every 500 web searches containing her name.  Although research by Hitwise suggests that popular searches include terms such as “Sarah Palin Vogue”, “Sarah Palin sexy photos”, “Sarah Palin bikini” and “Sarah Palin Nude”! (Make of that what you will…) (See the top 100 search terms here).  Needless to say, even Hustler appears to be cashing in on her popularity by shooting a Sarah Palin themed porn film.

On a serious note, Sarah Palin has apparently even influenced some of our own customers into certain fashion purchasing decisions.  At SelectSpecs.com we have seen an increase in popularity in glasses and frames that are similar in style to those worn by the attractive vice-presidential nominee hockey mom.

We therefore decided to have a glance over our extensive range and pick out a selection of glasses/frames that we consider to be potential “Sarah Palin look-a-like” glasses and list them here for your viewing pleasure.  Surprisingly there are quite a few more on our site that we couldn’t list here, so feel free to have a browse.

New Look SelectSpecs.com Launched!!

 New and Improved SelectSpecs.com

In a recent blog post we gave you a little look at what we at SelectSpecs.com have been working incredibly hard on to improve our customer’s shopping experiences, and it’s now with great pleasure that we can unveil the “New and Improved” SelectSpecs.com!  Here’s another look at some of the number of changes and additions we have made over the period of development:

Product Discovery.  All our products are now conveniently categorised into different glass types (ie, Prescription Glasses & Sunglasses), designers and features which will make it easier to find the products you are interested in.  For example, if you are looking for a particular style of Aviator Sunglasses, simply select the Aviator category within the Sunglasses section of the website then refine your options until you find exactly what you are looking for!

Easy Prescription Entry.  Our aging prescription page has now been replaced with a fresh new design that’s more intuitive to use and a simpler process to navigate.  We have also enhanced our range of lens options to give our customers the ultimate in convenience when it comes to buying prescription glasses.

Global Accessibility.  We have now improved the Country / Language preference settings making SelectSpecs.com more accessible to everyone from anywhere around the world.

Improved Shopping Experience.  From product discovery to the final checkout process, our new website has been designed with the customers shopping experience in mind helping to ensure that our customers can find and purchase what they are looking for quickly and hassle free.

This is a major upgrade for us and we are confident it will increase our presence in the worldwide online optical market as a trusted retailer!

We hope the new site will be an easier and generally more pleasant shopping experience for our customers, but during this busy change-over period it is possible that one or two little gremlins may have crept through the net.  If you experience any technical difficulties with the new site or spot any mistakes then please let us know by sending an e-mail to new-site@selectspecs.com.  (Please note that this e-mail is directed to our web development team and should only be used to report issues of this nature).

Over the coming months we will be adding new features to the SelectSpecs.com website including an in depth user accounts area that will give our customers easy access to their order history, ability to re-order previous items, and an area to save your prescription for easy retrieval when purchasing further products.  So stay tuned for further updates!
